Across the United States, March is recognized as American Red Cross Month. As one of the nation’s best known humanitarian organizations, the Red Cross has been at the forefront of helping Americans prevent, prepare for and respond to large and small disasters for 127 years. Communities depend on the Red Cross in times of need, and the Red Cross depends on the support of the American people to achieve its mission.
Red Cross Month is also a time in which we focus on the many ways in which local volunteers have helped in their Colorado communities through the Red Cross - whether responding to a house fire, teaching a health and safety course, administering CPR or and AED during an emergency, or supporting members of our Armed Forces.
In the past year alone, the American Red Cross Colorado Chapters responded to an average of one disaster every 21 hours, helping more than 500 local families with emergency needs. The Colorado Chapters also provided nearly 2,400 emergency communications services for military families and trained more than 100,000 people in lifesaving skills. Across this community, the Red Cross is an organization people can rely on for help, comfort, assistance and compassion.
If you would like to support the work of the American Red Cross in your local community, you can sign up to volunteer, donate to your local chapter, or by a ticket to attend the Breakfast of Champions on March 18.
