American Red Cross Breakfast of Champions features lifesaving stories of real heroes

Denver, CO – Scott Martin rescued a 3-year-old trapped under a car. Six-year-old Ava McCormick dove under water to pull her friend from the bottom of a pool. “Gus” the Labrador/Retriever mix makes it possible for a wounded war veteran to maintain his independence. Reyes Caraveo saved the life of a family member while deep in the woods on a hunting trip.

These are just some of the inspiring community heroes who will be honored on Thursday, March 18, during the American Red Cross Breakfast of Champions.

The Breakfast of Champions serves to recognize everyday people who have performed extraordinary acts of courage, compassion and caring.  The event is the American Red Cross Mile High Chapter’s largest fundraiser of the year and typically draws an audience of Denver business and community leaders, as well as local heroes and their families and supporters.
