The Largest National Guard Deployment Since World War II
In April 2009, the Colorado National Guard mobilized its largest contingent since World War II. When they deployed to Iraq, each of these servicemen and women carried with them information about how the Red Cross can help them in case of emergency.

Celebrating the Return Home of Heroes

Service to the Armed Forces Program

Employees and volunteers at the American Red Cross Colorado Chapters help unite and support families separated by military service, war, disaster or international crisis.

The formation of the American Red Cross is directly linked to its Service to the Armed Forces, beginning with the Civil War. The American Red Cross Colorado Chapters provide reporting and communication services that link members of the military any place in the world with their loved ones right here in Colorado. In addition, the Red Cross provides access to military aid societies and financial aid funds. The Red Cross also provides support and information to military families while their loved ones are away.

From July 2008-June 2009, Colorado Red Cross chapters provided nearly 2,400 emergency communications services to members of the Armed Forces.

More information on specific services can be found on our Service to the Armed Forces "Request Help" page.
